Biscuits On The Barbie

So I had a craving for some biscuits.  The only problem was, I don’t have an oven.  I thought about doing them in my electric frying pan, but that would just heat up the room.  Then it came to me.  The barbeque!  Last night, after a full day, I mixed up some biscuit dough, threw some tinfoil on the warming rack in the barbie, and went for it.  They looked good, and they tasted good too.  For those of you that may be thinking: “Yeah.  But you also lived in Madagascar for two years and ate all kinds of things”, I submit the following.  A friend of mine happened to stop by just as they were coming off the grill.  I convinced her to give one a try, and she ended up eating about three.  If you’re ever up for something new, give it a try!

  1. You can cook all sorts of things on the BBQ if you put your mind to it. I have had a delicous birthday cake cooked that way!

  2. I thought you lived on a farm? How did your friend “happen” to stop by? Seems to me that a farm is far off the beaten path and this wasn’t just happenstance. But you know me, always trying to create drama where there isn’t any! Grilled biscuits? hmmm….I’m still skeptical. Man I could go for a biscuit right now, but it’s too darn hot.

    • Candice,

I am still on the farm. But it’s really not that removed. It’s just kind of a small town sort of feel with some other fields and acreages in the area, so it’s easy for people to pop in and say hi. Let me tell you, they really did turn out good! The reason I did them on the barbeque and not on the electric fryin pan was because it was so hot in here. That’s why I kept the heat outside and ate them with butter and jam instead of gravy. It satisfied my craving, that’s for sure. One of these days when I make it out to see you, we’ll have to have a real good down-home biscuit meal.
